Surfside Beach Renourishment — 2026 Status

Surfside Beach is part of Reach 3, the final segment of the project. Sand placement is expected to begin in July 2026 and finish in August 2026.
What to Know
- Surfside Beach and Garden City together make up Reach 3, the last segment of the Grand Strand renourishment.
- Under the revised schedule announced May 5, 2026, work begins in July and is expected to be complete in August 2026.
- Expect rolling closures of roughly 1,000 feet of shoreline for two to three days at a time once work begins.
- If you are visiting Surfside Beach in early summer 2026, the beach is fully open — construction arrives in July.
