Garden City Beach Renourishment — 2026 Status

Garden City is part of Reach 3, the final segment. Work is expected to begin in July 2026 and wrap up in August 2026, closing out the Grand Strand project.

What to Know

• Garden City and Surfside Beach form Reach 3, the closing segment of the $72 million project.
• Per the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ May 5, 2026 update, sand placement begins in July and finishes in August 2026.
• The same rolling-closure pattern applies: about 1,000 feet of beach closed for two to three days per section, then immediately reopened.
• Garden City beaches are fully open until construction arrives in July 2026.
