Myrtle Beach Renourishment — 2026 Status
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Sand placement inside Myrtle Beach city limits resumed in late May 2026 after mechanical and scheduling delays. Work moves along the shoreline at up to 500 feet per day and is expected to finish in July 2026.
What to Know
- Myrtle Beach (Reach 2) is the segment currently under active construction as of June 2026.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced on May 5, 2026 that mechanical failures and scheduling conflicts pushed the schedule back roughly two months — sand placement resumed in late May and is expected to be complete in July 2026.
- Crews work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, restoring up to 500 feet of beach per day depending on conditions.
- Only about 1,000 feet of shoreline is closed at any one time, typically for two to three days per section, before reopening immediately.
- Work originally began near 50th Avenue North and progresses along the shoreline — check the live tracker for today’s active section before heading to the beach.
- The 67th Avenue North access remains closed until the Myrtle Beach segment is complete.
